History of Tabatha Labradors

Tabatha Labradors Kennel was established in 1969.  Our main interest is producing happy, sound and typical Labrador Retrievers,   breeding the English-style Labrador, with it's lovely temperament and kind good looks.  Our Tabatha Labradors are shown primarily in conformation at Specialty Shows, and they enjoy hunting both upland game and waterfowl.

Specialties are a dog show restricted to one breed. The entries are quite large and are most often judged by  Labrador Specialist from overseas.  These Specialty shows are held regionally throughout the country, so traveling is part of the fun.  At times we exhibit at All-Breed shows that are held locally, but truly the joy comes at the Specialties.

An ideal Labrador has a kind, mild worried expression because they feel they are not fed enough.  They are quite devoted to their stomachs.

Their love of children is well known, as is their love of water (and mud).  A hallmark of the breed is their lovely manners and they are true ambassadors of the dog world.

At the present, we have a waiting list for show-quality stock. At times we have pet-quality puppies that are sold on A.K.C Limited Registration.  Most often we have black Labs, as it is the color we prefer in our breeding program.

We would like to have more homes for the rescue Labradors that we take in.  We try to keep the numbers down because they are truly couch potatoes and my couch only holds 4 adult Labs! Generally we have 12 rescue Labradors a year that are anywhere from 6 months to 9 years old.  Some have a health problem or former owners would not have deserted them. Their ancestry may not be known, but their loving ways are just wonderful. After all, they are Labradors!
